Roopram Roti, an authentic flavor that has been known in Suriname for 56 years.
Thanks to the grandparents of Jainanan Roopram, Suriname has been able to enjoy the delicious rotis from Roop since 1967. In 1978, their grandson took over the successful family business and expanded it to twelve branches, including four international locations. Through this growth, the family now provides employment to more than one hundred people.

Because Roopram Roti keeps up with developments and listens to the wishes of its customers, the company offers both Hindustani and non-Hindustani dishes. Don’t feel like going out? No problem. Call, order, and your favorite dish will be delivered right to your desired location with our delivery service.

Roopram began in 1967 when the grandparents of Jainanan Roopram had the brilliant idea of selling homemade rotis and drinks. They did so in a rented property on Saramaccastraat, which bore the name ‘Tokyo.’ When their rental agreement came to an end, the roti sales also came to a close.

In 1973, their son Kalapdew Roopram, together with his wife Tarawatie Roopram-Ramdas, re-established the business. They decided that Mrs. Roopram would prepare the rotis at home, after which Mr. Roopram sold them from a rented property belonging to Joosje’s Rotishop.

Nine years later, the business expanded and several branches were opened. They occupied the building on the corner of Zwartenhovenbrugstraat and Saramaccastraat, while their eldest son, Jainarain, made his debut as an entrepreneur with his own rotishop on Wagenwegstraat.

The title of family business became even more meaningful. The youngest brother of Jainanan Roopram took over the branch on Zwartenhovenbrugstraat. Meanwhile, demand for a roti restaurant grew in the Kwatta area. In response, in 2008 Suda Roti Restaurant was founded on Kwattaweg, managed by Jainanan Roopram’s eldest daughter.

The needs of the Munder and Ringweg areas were also met with the opening of the Jairoop Roti Restaurant in 2021. This restaurant was entrusted to Mr. Roopram’s youngest daughter. “We ensure the spread of our roti products and make sure that we deliver the same quality, taste, and affordable roti to our customers. This way, they can buy our products more easily while saving fuel at the same time.”

Today, Grand Roopram consists of eight branches in Suriname and four in the Netherlands.
